Have you heard of the Hatpin Rebellion? Here at The Serpent’s Key, we are taking a moment to remember 20th Century Working Women and Suffragettes who popularized a very “pointed” method of self defense.

Hat Pins were used as decoration during the turn of the century, but their sharp ends lended themselves well to self defense against so called “Mashers”, or young men who wouldn’t leave unescorted ladies alone while they conducted themselves in busy city centers. Use of these Hatpins for self defense was so prolific, that in 1910 an ordinance was passed, making ownership of any hat pin over 9” long illegal to own.

Available as a Black Tee Shirt, or Baseball Tee, each shirt features designs on BOTH the front and back. Each tee is individually silk screened by hand locally in Gettysburg PA in small batches by Bloodrose Gettysburg.

With this design, we remember the bravery and defiance of these women. These are even more magical than they look as ALL proceeds are going towards a fund to further establish our Sanctuary, and create a Safe Space for all who seek an alternative spiritual path.
